Bastrop Bayou Parade of Lights

It’s that wonderful time of the year and that can only mean it’s time for the annual Bastrop Bayou Parade of Lights. From what Cap’n Popeye, The Mayor of Bastrop Bayou told me, the parade will start around dark at Bastrop Beach (Bastrop Bridge at FM523) and the flotilla will make it’s way down the bayou, around Demi John Island and then conclude at the various local bars and grills for beer and burgers.
You can watch from under the bridge at Demi John or the nice fishing area along the bayou across from the island. It will be our first time to attend but I have been guaranteed by The Mayor that fun shall be had by all. The more the merrier, I always say.
I’ll find out some more information from The Mayor and update this post if anything is materially incorrect.

Bastrop Bayou Parade of Lights Route

We have 2 homes on Bastrop bayou, and missed the parade last yr.because we didn’t have a date. We would like to join in on the parade if possible. We have a 28ft. ponton boat, and lots of lights and trees, and a santa suit. How do we contact captin Popeye?
Well, you got a date now. I don’t know if I agree, but I am rumored to be a pretty cheap date too.
Cap’n Popeye isn’t available to take calls about the parade, as he is very busy attending to the duties of his office. However, there is a phone number to call for more information.
According to some signs posted around locally you can call 979-417-4880 for more information about the Bastrop Bayou Parade of Lights. . I called and had to leave a message but as soon as I get the info I’ll post it.
Yesterday I stopped by Marlin’s Marina and talked to Mrs Addie and she told me the parade is on Saturday, 12-6-08 and will be starting at dusk at the 523 bridge. If you don’t have a boat join Mrs. Addie at Marlins and while you are there try her outstanding Philly cheese steak sandwich or a big two handed burger. They’re great. Hope to see you all there. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
What date, what time?
As The Mayor stated, this Saturday at dusk the boat parade will start at the Bastrop Bayou bridge at FM 523 and run to Demi John Island. If you don’t have a boat join us at Marlin’s Marina for a beer and burger.
